    Answer: Buy the R7. I don’t know how well the escort works I’ve had other escorts before and they did a decent job. The R7 is unreal. I usually will pick them up a half mile away over hills and curves. It’s by far the best detector I’ve ever used. There are so many things that can be done with the R7 as far as programming in colors for different things. I say buy the R7. I don’t think you will be disappointed. By the way it has 360 degrees of detecting and I’ve noticed when the law is only running radar in the different direction your driving the detector will pick it up also as well as it does from the front. Also tells you direction and band they are using.
  • Question: Does it tell you the speed you’re going?

    Answer: That is an option you can have turned on. Your speed is determined using GPS.
  • Question: What is GPS automatic lockdown do? Is it in R3 & R7?

    Answer: As of their most recent user software/firmware update from Uniden 2/25/2021, they do have the ability to automatically lock out false alerts... Firmware Version 1.35. Make sure you update your detector to have the latest firmware.
  • Question: Is Spectre Elite undetectable?

    Answer: YES. According to the specs.
  • Question: Do you need a subscription to update the GPS database for it?

    Answer: No. Uniden does not require a subscription, unlike Escort.
  • Question: How do you update the firmware on Uniden R7? Where can I buy the cable?

    Answer: There should be a USB type cable included. You log into their sight, download their app to your computer, and launch an update. I forget the particular order, but I remember it being somewhat easy even though I’m not particularly a computer expert.

    Answer: Yes, it does come with a mounting kit.

    Answer: Depends on the mirror you have.

The Uniden R7 Radar Detector is a powerful device with numerous features which include GPS location and speed tracking, as well as alerts for red light and speed cameras. The device is made in Korea and is not suitable for use in Australia. Its ability to automatically lock out false alerts through the GPS Automatic Lockdown and the fact that there is no need for a subscription to update the GPS database is impressive. The R7 is hailed as superior to the Escort Max360 and its features are applauded, especially its ability to detect radar from a far distance. Geographical points where radar is commonly encountered can be marked to avoid future false alerts. Some users, however, have experienced many false positives with newer car radar sensors. The device has more than paid for itself according to some users who have been saved from receiving speeding tickets. It is also easy to set up; however, some reviewers have expressed confusion in doing so.
